NEW MEXICAN MARTIAN SALSA
New Mexican Martian Salsa has landed on our plate today. This product is made with the freshest ingredients in the galaxy. This Martian salsa also is low in sodium and has no additives or preservatives. The website asks ” How could something so healthy for you taste good, right?” Well we are asking the same question. Three tasters unanimously agreed that this salsa should of stayed in outer space. It did lack salt. The flavors were bland and not very exciting. I bit into a huge chunk of chewy onion skin. The best part of this salsa is the label. It is eye catching and entertaining.
INGREDIENTS
Tomatoes, onions, jalapenos, lime juice, sugar, salt, black pepper, dehydrated onion, crushed red bell pepper, garlic, powder and dehydrated onions. All these ingredients sound wonderful. They have the possibilities to make a great salsa. The quality control must of been a little lax to let a huge piece of onion skin to skip through.
AROMA
This salsa has a pleasant tomato aroma. It sort of smells like your classic V-8 juice.
Appearance & Texture
This salsa is chunky and thick. It looks inviting. You can make out chunks of peppers and tomato’s. Just be careful of that big hunk of onion lurking in this thick chunky conncoction.
Taste
This is the downfall of New Mexican Martian Salsa. It is PLAIN and bland. It lacks salt and that jolt of lime juice needed to compliment the other flavors. These ingredients are listed. We could not taste any dectectable pepper heat. It was a dissapointment in this department.
Taste on Food
Barbequed Tamales was on the menu. The salsa made a pretty picture, but actually brought down the finished compliment of flavors. It was dissapointing.
Label
This is the highlight of New Mexican Martian Salsa. The label is clever and eye appealing. It I saw this in a store, It would be bought. There is a fun story on the back of the label.
Overall
New Mexican Martian Salsa does not deliver in the flavor department. The quality control did not catch a huge piece of onion skin. Looking at the package, we wanted to like this salsa but flavor should be the deciding factor.

I haven’t tasted this myself, but I’ve heard from a few others that agree with your assessment of this salsa. I love the line that it “should have stayed in outer space”.

To me a label is huge….If you have a “Gimick” label chances are that your product is not going to be so good.I’m sure that there are some out there that can prove me wrong but that does not happen to often.
Great call on the salsa…..
I would love to see more of that grill that you where using……

Thank you for your review. It is the most thorough one I have had on my salsa. I thoroughly appreciate your honesty and constructive feedback. You were right on the money with the label. It is very popular and won a scovie award as well as my website. I will also be addressing the salt issue in the next batch I produce. In the meantime, I’ve got another salsa variety I’m producing. Would you be interested in reviewing this one as well?

Michelle, you are asking a Chilehead for a free sample, does the Earth spin? lol I have your salsa on my Facebook page, and if you are interested some of the blogs including this one with Scott above judged the Jungle Jim’s Weekend of Fire salsa contest this past year. We will be doing it again for the next show in August, and I will be contacting companies after the Fiery Food Show to see who wants in. If you are interested I will be in contact then. Let me, Scott or Jerky Boy know or just answer here if need be.

Michelle, Thanks for the reply. Of course I would like to review the new salsa’s. Budda beat me to the punch.
Do you have any suggestions to get rid of these Martians in my Living Room?

CB, I wasn’t looking for a review, just to see if they would like to be in the Jungle Jim’s salsa contest. I did not mean to step on anyone’s feet.
