It is breakfast time at the Chilebrown household. Today we have invited Benito and he is bringing his “White Hot” sauce. This is an intriguing sauce for several reasons. The color of this sauce is an unusual off white. This sauce also is a compilation of all organic ingredients. While you are consuming this hot sauce you can have peace of mind for the earth. I think this sauce will go perfect with some ‘chicken fried’ bacon and eggs.
Ingredients
Bhut Joklia peppers, onions, garlic, lime juice, distilled white vinegar, ‘e.v.o.o’. It is a good thing Ms. Goofy has the ‘Food Network” on 24/7 so I knew right away that ‘e.v.o.o’. is Rachael Ray’s pet name for olive oil. Everything listed is organic, a good thing for the planet. There is a discrepancy between the label and the web site. The website lists ginger and orange habs. I am not sure if the recipe changed or these ingredients were omitted.
Aroma
There is a combination of citrus and lime that hits your nose. There is a slight aroma of onion. It smells delicious
Appearance & Texture
This is what sets this sauce aside from others. It is a white/yellow thick sauce. It has the consistency of pureed applesauce. ‘White Hot’ sparks the imagination. What will this taste like?
Taste
We tried this naked on a spoon. The first hit of flavor is onion with a refreshing lime kick. The heat rush hit the lips and spread to the tip of the tongue and stopped. We were very surprised of the heat level. The Bhut Joklia’s did not deal the death blow we anticipated. The combination of ingredients did melt together to form a very pleasing flavor.
Food
Chicken Fried Bacon and eggs were on the menu today. Do not knock it until you have tried it. This will be the breakfast rage of 2010. Benito’s White Hot Sauce was an addictive addition to this cholesterol fest. The flavor of the sauce enhanced our food. I kept pouring a little more over everything. This sauce would go great with any savory dish.
Heat
3 stars out of 5. This sauce is not a raging inferno of heat. It will waken your taste buds with a medium kick.
Label
I like the graphics on the label. A man relaxing in an inner tube floating down a river, clutching some flowers, with a ‘WHITE HOT” logo looming above, is the scene. ‘Of Primal Necessity” is spelled out on the bottom. It took some soul searching for the meaning of the flowers. Maybe; “A Man who is relaxing and communing with nature, who is comfortable with himself. This man is about to experience a “White Hot” ride over a waterfall of heat of Organic Bhut Joklia nirvana.
Overall
Benito’s White Hot Sauce is a Winner. The combination of the unusual color, organic ingredients and taste won over the Chilebrown household. We were surprised by the heat level with Bhut Joklia’s as an ingredient. What this sauce does for food sold us on this being a solid and great sauce.

Well if bacon wasn’t healthy enough, why not add some fried chicken coating to the mix?
Nice review. One day I will have to try some of Ol’ Benito’s products, Scott always is raving about them.
Hey Paul,
I sincerely appreciate you taking the time to review the White Hot. The recipe did change, I used to include orange habs, now it’s just the jolokia (but not too much of course). I figured, why fake the funk…Stay well! The flowers in my hand are bhut jolokia flowers…Buddah, I need your address…. -Ol’ Benito
OB, I am a patient man, no need for the freebie. I will see you at Peppers on the Beach on a few months. By then I will have my website up and running and we can talk about a review. Thanks for the kind inquiry.
Looks really good, I was told that your sauces are low in sodium. How about this one?
Benito’s is the kind of sauce you can put on anything. I like the White Hot on pizza – that garlic-y onion flavor compliments it nicely. Thanks for making such amazing products Benito – keep up the good work!

What no xanthum gum or sodium benzoate? Well that takes all the fun out of it!
No, I’ll have to pick some up along with the all the other sauces. Sounds excellent!

I just went through a bottle of Benito’s new Old Coy Dog sauce a few weeks back. It’s another one that’s on my “to-do” list to review.
