Just what the Doctor ordered is ‘Five Star Meat Marinade. This is an all purpose marinade that can be used for beef, chicken, fish, lamb, pork and game. It is all natural and boasts:
• No msg
• No sugar
• No carbs
• No preservatives
• No oils or fats
The million dollar question is will something that is so healthy taste good? We soon shall see. Today’s menu will consist of some chicken thighs and pork shoulder steaks that have been marinated in Five Star Meat Marinade for 24 hours and grilled.
Ingredients;
Vinegar, Salt, Spices, Paprika and garlic are the ingredients listed. Everybody likes a surprise but I would like to know what spices are going onto my meats.
Aroma & Texture;
Vinegar with an herbal presence is the aroma that says hello to your sinuses. You need to give the bottle a shake to distribute the spices. It is thin with a lot of different spices as a marinade should be.
Taste;
Vinegar and paprika was my first impression. It reminded me of a bloody Mary mix. To be fair this is a marinade and the real test will be how it tastes after marinating some meat.
Heat;
None.
Label;
The label is fairly plain. There are proclamations of No fat, oils, sugar etc. and all natural stated. This label does not grab your attention and I would probably pass it by on the shelf
Food;
Did I ever tell you I like to fire up the barbeque on the weekend. A mesquite fire that was turned into hot embers was our fuel of the day. Twenty four hour marinated chicken and pork was cooked until done. I hate to admit some vegetables made it to the grill today. The pork and chicken was cooked and rested. Fork tender and meat delicious was the verdict. I say meat delicious because the meat flavor was the star. The marinade probably tenderized and kicked up the flavor. Spices and freshness (Ms. Goofy used freshness as a term and I agree) complimented this meat plater.
Overall;
Ms. Goofy, my wife, and I would like to add that she is very beautiful, says; “A little tang that brings out the flavor of the meat.” This sauce does not cover the meat flavor but enhances it. Yes, I will agree and say the salt, vinegar and the mystery spices add a wonderful flavor to our grilled meats. The overnight marinade might have even tenderized the meat because it was fork tender. The label needs a little work. I would like to know what spices are in this mix. Overall “Five Star Meat Marinade” is a great addition to our grill. It is healthy and also happens to taste great. Go figure!
