A Mountain Home couple faces felony charges after investigators say they beat a child they were babysitting and poured Hot sauce into his mouth.

Baxter County sheriff’s investigators arrested Lynn Dwayne White, 33, and Jessica L. White, 30, Wednesday afternoon.

According to the sheriff’s report, the couple was babysitting a three-year-old boy whose father was out of town on business.

On Thursday, December 8, Sheriff John Montgomery say the couple took the child to the Baxter Regional Medical Center Emergency Room for treatment of a rash and a burning sensation during urination.

Medical personnel observed numerous contusions and abrasions on the child’s face, hand, should, arm and buttocks, investigators say.  The Division of Children and Family Services was notified.

Investigators say during an interview at the sheriff’s office on Wednesday Lynn White admitted he hit the child with a belt.

According to the report, investigators also learned that Jessica White was present when the injuries were inflicted and they say she did nothing to intervene.

Investigators say they also believe one or both of the Whites poured hot sauce into the child’s mouth as punishment.

Lynn White is charged with Battery in the Second Degree.  His bond was set at $15,000.

Jessica White is charged with Permitting Child Abuse, with a bond of $5,000.

Both are scheduled to appear in Baxter County Circuit Court on January 12.

The child was returned to his father.
