KISSIMMEE, FL (WFTV/CNN) – A special needs teacher in Florida could lose her job for allegedly using hot sauce to keep students in line.

“I was really upset. I couldn’t believe it, honestly, I was like how can a teacher of so many years do something like that,” said Karina Holguin, aunt of the victims

Sauces spice up shelter funds

The grainy, black-and-white picture says it all.

In it, a 3-year-old Jeff Schmidt is cradling a snowy white kitten while a Chihuahua and a curly-haired poodle flank him on either side. The grin on his face stretches from ear to ear, expressing a depth of joy known only by kids who are surrounded by what makes them happiest.

Almost 50 years later, Schmidt’s love for animals continues.

The Fort Myers resident, who works as a refrigeration consultant for area supermarkets by day, has started the Dog-gone Sauce Co., a food business dedicated to raising funds for animal rescue shelters throughout the state.

“I always gave money to the Humane Society, but when the economy went bad and business tanked I had to stop,” Schmidt said. “So I thought: Why don’t I create residual income that’s just for them?”

Blair’s Death Sauce iPhone/iPad App

If you missed the Eat More Heat broadcast a while back where Wreck had Blair on for the upcoming Halloween Reserve, they also talked about an iPhone/iPad application that was looming in the near future. Well my friends, the future is here! I was tweeting last night in bed… Get your mind out of the gutter, and I just happened to be on when Blair tweeted that the app had gone live. Scott’s Best Spicy Products of 2011

The following are items and companies I’ve chosen as featuring the best that have been released or that I’ve encountered for the first time during the 2011 calendar year. To qualify, this product either had to be released after January 1, 2011 or I would have tasted it for the very first time in the past year. Believe me, there were dozens of worthy sauces, seasonings and food enhancers I would have loved to include and so many product manufacturers that deserved a mention. But I had to narrow it down to the creme de la creme and give the “Scottvies” (with apologies to Dave DeWitt) to my top choices in each category.

Please bear with me as I speak with an upper respiratory infection. I hope my scratchy voice isn’t too annoying to listen to, especially as it gets later into the video…. Continue reading
